Pippin stood there a while wondering why/when we'd gotten a swimming pool.
Merlin: "Is it worth swimming? Can I swim?"
We had a short break in the rain, the sun even peaked out for a moment. It's once again pouring down the winds have picked up. So much so that if the boyz had surf boards they could give it a go! All hooves crossed that the barn stays dry! They're both inside now, thankfully common sense kicked in as there is very little grass and two nets filled with hay inside.
Hubs worked so hard on drainage too but, when it comes down like this this is what we still end up with. Hopefully it will drain once it's stopped, before another freeze!
Our septic is working over time.
Holy cow! That's some serious flooding... with the potential to turn into an ice rink. Are you having to deal with septic stench with all the ground water?
ReplyDeleteThankfully Hubs installed an exhaust fan in the summer. Otherwise I'd have had to leave the house. Did have some minor flooding in the basement. Two sump pumps couldnt keep up!

ReplyDeleteI wish! I went out and dug several trenches, who cares if the yard is flooded right! Temps dropping to the 20's tonight! Going to run to TSC in the morning and pick up that stuff you feed chickens that's gravelish. Can't recall the name, I'll spread it for traction. Hooves crossed it drains quickly.
DeleteI had always been jealous of your flat land but now I see the downside. We had an "angry" snowstorm last night that kept me awake because icy snow was hitting our window. It's a winter wonderland (again) today and still coming down. I decided to stay home today.
ReplyDeleteWhat's bad is the neighbors on both sides have massive pole buildings. They'd built up ground to do so, also the field behind us has one low spot and its behind us. All this means we get the run off from all three sides!!!
