Merry Everything...

Camryn here:
Had a wonderful day(s), Mom's family came over for a Christmas Eve feast and gift stuff.  Dad worked really hard playing Santa Grampa for Grandfoal...

Grandfoal gotted two of this thingie, one for his house, one for ours too...

Adam & Ashley even came from Alaska via Skype. That helped Mom lots.

Grampa got Grandfoal started on a tradition....He can't play with it yet of course but, by the time he can he'll have a good collection started.

Lots of books for Grandfoal, Noni The Pony, Tex an several other horsey adventures...

Jillian's honey Jesse gets some practice for an elf of his own someday even...

Jillian practices "elf feeding" too...

Emily helped Mom from missing Tye.  Tradition had it that Tye helped everyone unwrap gifts.

Down in the barn Margeaux N Maizee got nice snuggly beds.  Margeaux knew right away what these were for!

Not overly fond of the elf hat thing, but....

It did net me a net filled with hay Christmas morning!  Lots of yummy snack-a-roo stuff too!  Santa knows the way to my heart is thru my belly after all!!!

Lots of Horse-felt wishes for all
"HAPPY EVERYTHING, MERRY ALWAYS"

Where'd it go???

Camryn here:
Mom says that here in Ohio if you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes cause it's sure to change...
She's very right, one day I'm standing on the patio in a Winter Wonderland...

Then it's this!!!!  SIGH, least I gots my nice dry patio!!!  They'd been told this place doesn't flood!!! "WRONG", my patio n barn are dry though.  Dad is planning some trenching and drain pipes come summer time to keep my dryer next year.

Meanwhile in the house...
Grandfoal explains how a smartphone works to Dad aka Grampa

Later they take a snooze together.  Biggify to read Lincolns shirt, to cute.

Grampa aka Dad needed some help with diaper changing (reason for both having differant clothes on during their snooze.  Poor Mom she laughed so hard at Dad she nearly peed herself even!!!  Mom was downstairs when she heard Dad calling for her that Lincoln had pooed.  She runs up to see Dad holding a near naked Lincoln up over the diaper change table.  Dad didn't realize that Lincoln wasn't quite done yet when he removed the diaper.  Soooo, Mom had to clean Lincoln's bum midair as he continued on with his business (he had a lot of business).  While this was going on, Lincoln peed all over Dad!!!  Dad goes to put him down on the changing table "on the dirty diaper", Mom stopped this.  Dad then began backing away from the table, with poo still being produced Mom stopped this too.  She told Dad to deal with it till she got it done, course she was hard to understand as she was laughing/crying at the same time!  Poor Dad, he gotted baptised good!!!
Later on Mom n Jillian went to play "Say Yes to the Dress".  Yep, they went wedding gown shopping.  Jillian n Jesse are in town for the holiday, they met Jillians StepMom along with two of Jillian's bestest buds at the Wedding Gown store.  Jillian only planned to narrow down the style she liked best with their help.  But, as fate would have it Jillian found "THE DRESS".  So exciting, her and the dress was a perfect match, sorry no pix cause what if Jesse for some reason looked at my blog and ruined the "groom doesn't see the dress till the wedding?"  No date set yet since Jesse be a Marine and their not sure where they'll be moving to next year.

What I do...

Camryn here:
Mom was all worried bout the winds n stuff here at the new place.  At the old place I generally chose to stand outside despite wind>snow>rain or whatever else the weather mans might throw my way.
She worried that I wouldn't use my patio and/or the door Dad put in for me to go in and out whenever I wanted.  Her discussed getting me a rain coat with my trimmer, Sherry told her if I needed to be inside I'd go inside.  That no intelligent horse would choose being out over their own well being and that I'm an intelligent horse.  So right you are Sherry...

Can't even believe Mom had questions regarding my brilliance can you?  Have to say you're pretty smart too Mom, since you chose to remain sheltered in your house while taking this pic of me napping in mine :)

Lil Promise update, she's rebounding nicely.  Her drain tubes come out tomorrow.

And now we wait...

Camryn here:
Promise had surgery yesterday.  She'd had a cyst for many years, it'd come, it'd go.  Old Vet felt it was nothing, it didn't interfere with Promise way of going or anything.  It never gotted bigger than a chicken egg.  Ivy has always had a tendancy to grab Promise in that area and was probably the cause of it, then of course she was also the cause of it dissapearing as she'd pop it.
Suddenly in the coarse of maybe 2 weeks if that, the cyst became the size of a humans fist.  Mom tooked Promise into the new Vet.  He asperated it, not only did he not like what came out, but he discovered the reason it "appeared" so much bigger.  A huge mass had grown in underneath it.  He checked the asperated fluids and found no for sure cancer, but still it was suspisious stuff.  So they scheduled surgery to remove it all, plus while Promise was sleeping since she's not gonna be a Momma no more they was gonna spay her too.
Yesterday was her surgery, while on the table Vet also found a mammory tumor so called Mom for permissions to take that too.  Poor Promise had three surgeries in one day!!!  She came thru fine and is being a very good patient...
Such a good girl...

OWIE, that looks ouchie...

Up close, she's got drain tubes.  When Mom went to get her she was like "and how do I pick her up to put her in the truck".  Seeing as Promise has three surgical sites it was gonna be rough for sure.  She's got some strong pain meds, gets warm compresses several times a day.  And Mom's been spending lots of time in the laundry room loving on her.
And now we wait...

Ivy waits outside the laundry hospital room for a glimpse of her best bud.  We wait for the pathology reports to come back praying that the masses are benign.  Adding some of your prayers for dear sweet Promise would be much appreciated.

A little back story on Promise:  On Chris first deployment to Iraq, he arranged for Mom to have a special Christmas present.  That present was our Promise.  Her full name is CH Pecan Valley EvryStarEvryStripe, her call name Promise is cause Chris "promised" to come home safe.  Promise is sweeter than sugar, never gets in trouble (unlike Ivy) she's always been a quiet girl even as a pupster.  She's not overly fond of fast moving kids, though she adores Lincoln.  She was the awesomest of Momma's too.  While she's not Ivy's Momma she might as well be.  Promise had pupsters the day after Ivy's litter was born to Mirage.  Mirage got tired of the whole pupster thing after three weeks and gave her pups to Promise to finish raising.  While Promise was a bit surprised having started with 5 pups and ending up with 9, she didn't hesitate and took them all under her paw.

The Good n The Bad...

Camryn here:
Sorry it's been so long since I've posted.  We've had lots goin on round here, some good, some bad.  Guess I'll start with the bad and get it done though it's hard to write about.
Our Tye crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge last month, it wasn't totally unexpected being he was gonna be 17 in Feb.  But, still we wasn't ready to let him go.  Mostly all him did was sleep & he had dementia accompanied by "sundowners".  The sundowner part of the dementia meant he'd be up n pacing all night.  Being mainly blind n mostly deaf this meant midnight tumbles down stairs!!!  No, he never gotted hurt but, we worried what would happen if Mom n Dad was working and him felled and did get hurt. Sooo, rather than let that happen, it was decided to let him pass over in a more gentle fashion....

This was Tye as a wee pupster encountering their old cat Jigs.  Yep even as a pupster Tye was willing and ready to be the boss!!!

Tye LOVED, LOVED, LOVED kids.  He did get to meet Lincoln for a sniff test so that was good.
Tye was very special being a mix of many things, but mostly terrier (terror) and a little bit of butthead mixed in.   He was Chris dog mostly, and if you've even seen those commercials that make you cry when a dog greets hims soldier coming home, you shoulda seen Tye when Chris comed home.  He outdid all those greetings in a big way.  Tye was small but, did everything in such a big way.  While being Chris's growing up dog, when Chris did come home Tye stayed with Mom n Dad.  Tye loved everbody but, always knew and understood who his boy was.
Christmas is gonna be hard this year, Tye always unwrapped all his own presents then went to make sure he got to help unwrap everbody elses too.
R.I.P. Tye guy

Now the good, Grandfoal is growing sooooo fast!!!  Lincoln will be three months soon and is already in six months clothes.  I've met him several times now though he's yet to meet me cause he's always sleeping when in the barn.  Lincolns Mom started a new job which has her out of state with training a bit.  This is good for Mom (specially missing Tye) cause with Chris working AND in college, Lincoln comes here lots n lots.  Another reason for less computer time!!!

Some funny stuff, we got lotsa rain at Thanksgiving time.  Ivy and Promise are trying to figure Maizee out and what she's wanting to do.

Mom calls Maizee "crazy Maizee" now cause her runs around splashing and chasing the puddles all about!!!  This went on for an hour even though it was very cold out!  She's a real hoot!

Since it be my blog, had to include me!  My paddock got a bit sloppy from the rains.  Not near as bad as the floods at the old place thankfully, it drains better and my barn n patio stays nice n dry.  Still I prefer to be out even when I can go in.  Bummer that I'm off my pasture for the winter so's it doesn't get all destroyed and the grass will be good come springtime.  Ooooh, springtime how I miss you!
I'll try to post more often, probably not as much as before on account of Mr. Lincoln n all.

Dragon & T. Rex...

Camryn here:
I rarely do two posts in one day but...
Chris texted Mom this pic of Lincoln the Dragon & Emily T. Rex.  Being a cell pic it's not the bestest but, she must make do:

Lincoln the Dragon is filling out quite nicely.  Seems every few minutes he's grown some.  Emily  T. Rex the Dragons trusty side kick looks quite cute.  Though it does look kind of like something is eating her head?  I'm guessing Sam is adjusting something given that T. Rex is a tripod n all. Maybe Emily  T. Rex should borrow the leg that seems to be just hanging around in the top of the picture???

It's been a rainy, windy, rainy day, this is what I do after coming in from standing in the downpour all day!  Gotta roll in the fresh bedding to dry off a bit.  Mom saw me pawing and whipped out her cell phone.  No private moments with those dratted phones I tell you.
Some bad news for me, once I volunteered happily and quite accidently to ride the other day.  I had to prove myself to be uncooperative just to keep Mom on her toes.  So two nights in a row I refused to come in from my pasture.  Course it didn't work quite like I planned cause Mom just got her handy stick and lunged me till I decided my room was a good spot to be in.  Her knowed it was gonna rain all day so decided rather than having to round me up in the dark downpour she'd keep me in my paddock this afternoon.  I caught on and tried to run past her into the pasture.  Not a good idea cause then I got lunged in the rain and brought in the paddock anyhow.  I showed her though, instead of going on my dry patio to munch on some good hay & stay toasty dry, I stood out in the wind and rain eating wet grass thru the puddles, changing my lovely golden coat to a drenched brown!
HA, so there Mom   :P

Happy Halloween!!!

Camryn here:
Happy Halloween everyone.  Bummer that my costume dissapeared with the move, plus Mom didn't even get pumpkins this year!  Bad Mom, Bad Mom...
Moms daughter Jillian and her Fiance Jesse got to play dress up and sent a picture.  So stead of me in costume, here are Jillian n Jesse:
Can you tell who/what they are?  If not, I'll tell you, they are the game of "Operation".  Isn't that cool.  And I think that might be me on Jillians thigh next to the beer bottle she's holding (probably not but, I'll pretend anyways)!!!  Jillian works for a surgeon so Jesse got to wear one of their scrubs.  Guess he wasn't real thrilled that his costume had once actually had bloods n other ghastly things upon it.  Hee hee, don't ya love big handsome guys that gross out easy ;)
Oh, in case I'd forgotten to mention it before, Jesse proposed to Jillian earlier this month.  Course she said "YES", cause she LO-OVES her Jesse :)  He's a real nice guy and they make a very good couple.
It's raining outside so no tricks or treats being handed out here.  Mom tooked a whole bag of candy to the Littles next door though.
Lincoln and his dog big sis Emily are helping hand out candies and dressing up.  Lincoln will be a Dragon, Emily a T. Rex!  Mom might go over to see em, though she's more into chilling tonight.  We'll get pix to post I'm sure :)

I actually volunteered!!!

Camyrn here:
FINALLY, Mom's unbusying a bit, plus we've been having an Indian Summer.  Me n Mom have been enjoying it lots riding after work for the past four days in a row!!!  On day three I made Mom soooo happy, I was at the back of my field nomming away when I saw her bring my saddle outa the barn into the paddock.  I don't know what got into me, I honestly don't but, I made a crucial mistake.  I actually yelled the horse version of "YIPPEE" and galloped over to be tied and saddled up!!!  OMG, is she going to expect this each and every time now!!!  I do have to say it was nice having Mom get all excited and happy that I showed I wanted to play.  Though I'm also banging my head on the fence posts now that I've let that cat out of the bag so to speak <SIGH>
Today, I recovered myself nicely and did my usual casual stroll when called over to get dressed for riding.  We did have fun I must say!
K, Mom put the camera down and lets get on with it!
I do however recommend Mom taking lessons again come spring or sooner.  Like Zoe has complained regarding her human, Mom's turned into a sack of potatoes, specially at the trot.  Thank heavens for the nearly 30 lbs she's dropped over the past year, still something needs to be done.  All those months of no riding has taken it's toll on her skills or lack of skills.  How you look at it depends on if it's your back that bag of taters is on for sure!

Me n My shadow...

Camryn here:
So after Mom had cleaned my room, cleaned my field, cleaned the dog yard, the barn litter box (yes, my kitties use a litter box besides my room too).  She was exhausted but, needed something to clear her head and just chill for a change with something that didn't involve poop!!!
Mmmmm, wonder what she wanted to do then?  I noticed her bringing my gonna play gear out to the paddock, meaning my saddle n what not.
She cleaned me up a bit, saddled me up, helmeted herself up and off we went.  We really just putzed around my field just relaxing.  Mom noticed I was VERY interested in what the 20+ horses a few acres over where up to as they literally all galloped to their barn.  So, out came the clicker and my attention was back on Mom.
I'm checking out all the galloping at the big barn
We played at my whoa, Mom always asks for me for at least a tiny step back when whoaing.  We played backing up, we played disenaging my rear.  I am way good at this, Mom pretends I'm a reining horse which is a pretty cool thought.  I think she needs to try to video the scenery moving as I do a 360 sometime!  I even did one very good sidepass which unfortunatly Mom was so "wow, you acually did it" she forgot the click/treat part <SIGH>
The long ears are always intrigued when Mom n I play.  They holler lots n run around some, they worry that Mom trying to kill me being on my back like that.  I do think they'll get used to it someday perhaps?
We played long time, till Mom realized she had to get dinner cooking.  After I went back to my grass, Mom came out with a lovely peppermint candy for me.  <YUMMY>  Even though with all the grass I been eating she's noticed my cinch didn't go up to the usual number of holes to buckle.  I think I see a grazing muzzle next year :(

Finally...

Camryn here:
It finally happened, Grandfoal came to see me at the barn today.  Neither of us were terribly impressed however...

Mmmph, I'd have thought he'd be just a little excited about meeting me don't ya think?  Or perhaps be more of a help in helping clean my room?  Nope, he came in saw me and promptly fell asleep!  Maybe he was dreaming of riding me thruout the countryside?  Or maybe he was shutting out the fact that someday Mom'd actually expect some help cleaning my room?  I can't really complain though, I came in the barn took a gander at the little guy then went back out to more important things (grass of course).

Margeaux took Grandfoals visit quite seriously making sure Maizee (heading out the door) steered clear!

Busy humans...

Camryn here:
My people have been soooo busy, sometimes I feel sorry for them.  But, that soon passes and I go back to being busy myself...

Keeping my pasture mowed, is sooooo exhausting!  Please don't tell Mom I'm getting chubby!

Promise gets tired just watching them do stuff all the time and needs to rest up.

There was this huge pussy willow bush sitting smack dab in the middle of the yard.  Most of the landscaping is unimaginative and boring, very unatural with things just stuck out nowhere and surrounded by circles of rocks.  Mom's undug all the rock circles and can build around some of the stuff with other plantings.  This particular bush hindered the views and had to go...

Almost gone...

Now Mom can sit on the porch and see the cute long ears across the rode better.  This is the baby Spot.

Margeaux could watch the long ears too if she wasn't so tired from watching Mom n Dad!

Dad moved all the cut down stuff to behind my pasture to age for burning come spring.

Of course the prerequiste pic of Lincoln!!!  OH MY, he's getting cuter n cuter, they got Chris baby pix out and Lincoln is his little clone.  Mom gotted him this furry bear jacket so he could come out and visit me.  He did come out a bit while Mom watched him this morning, but I was busy mowing the pasture.  While watching Lincoln she also made a huge pot of Beef Stew.  Sam was on a job interview, all hooves crossed she gets it.  She had to leave her job when she n Chris gotted married on account of it woulda been a 4 hour commute. Same type of job, just a differant airline.  Since the Govt. peoples finally got their act together (for now) Chris gotted to go back to his day work. Though he's still furloughed one day a week.  His broked leg still has him off from the Fire Station though.
Then when Lincoln went home, Mom got busy transplanting stuff from the old place.  She still has tons of plants to bring here but, with winter coming they'll wait till spring.  Besides that Mom of course provided room service for me with yummy eats, more water, changing my linens and cleaning my field.  Oh, she's also tarped off an area for the veggie garden and adding my road apples to compost thru the winter.  Whoa, I'm tired just thinking of it all!

All a glow...

Camryn here:
One thing we all like lots bout the new place (besides grass) is the sun rises n sun sets.  Living in the woods at the old place we rarely never got to see them...
Last nights sunset...

Sadly the pic doesn't show how I was all a glow!  Mom did try though.

This was a sunset making the trees in front all gold n beautiful.  Mmmm, just like me!

This sunset was way prettier than the picture.  Mom sayed something about "red sky at night, sailors delight", meaning the next day would be a good one for being outside.

I be thinking God had his art brushes all out for this!

This was a foggy sunrise out front.  You can kinda see the cattle out grazing.

An awesome late sunset, Mom had troubles finding me in the pasture.  That's where I enjoy the splendor of the sunrises n sunsets the best.

Some things just don't change...

Camryn here:
Some things just don't change, like I used to stand in the rain at the old place even though I could go inside.  Now I have my patio and I still stand in the rain...

Mom of course still prefers to stay dry and took these from inside the kitchen slider.  WIMP!!!  I did go under my patio when the wind picked up for a wee nap.  Once the winds died down it was back to Nomming as usual.
Dad has made a few changes to my barn.  He's added a sliding door off of my side of the patio.  Simplifies things lots in the morning and at bedtime.  I can simply head into or out of my stall from my side of the patio, rather than being haltered then lead thru the gate that seperates Dad's side of the patio, into the barn thru a man sized door then into my stall.  Dad is also gating off the stairs to the loft as well as adding a big gate off my stall in the barn too.  Mom'll add more rubber mats, so come winter I can go in to eat/drink/chill out of the weather.  Course I'll do the eat/drink part inside, but the chill part I'll probably still do outside.
Of course I must add a pic Grandfoal.  Look, he can open his eyes, bald as a billiard ball though  hee hee!  He looks just like his Daddy!
