Got a new neighbor...

Camryn here...
Got me a new neighbor, quite a handsome guy at that.  Believe me I was looking too hee hee!!!  Lori who boards next door is retiring my friend Eclipse.  So her's been shopping for a new ride.
So today she found him and had him brought next door.  He's a Quarter Horse, a real pale Palimino and stands like 15.2, he's only a 4 year old so hope she's not surprised when he ends up tall.  Eclipse was tad shorter than me!!!  He came with the name Dakota but, since Danette's horse is Dakota and he doesn't look lke a Dakato there is going to be a name change.   Mom took her camera over when he arrived....
Right now Lori thinking of calling him Levi.  Mom thinks it sounds good karma, cause when you think of Levi's you think of durable, comfortable and something you can count on.

Rain, rain, rain...

Camryn here:
Mom keeps singing some little diddle "rain, rain, go away, come again another day.  Well, it worked kinda, not the going away part, just the part where it comes another day!!!
You may recall Mom and Dad hauling dirt into my paddock not so long ago?  It was supposed to be dirt, that's what they paid for.  WRONG, it be clay!!!  Mom is not happy bout this at all cause clay just don't drain like dirt.  Dad just poo poo's her, well he doesn't have to walk round in it like Mom n Me do all the time.  It's a mess big time.  I looks like I'm wearing dark socks all the time.

Vogue...

Camryn here:
First off, thanx everyone of the comments on my new saddle.  And yes, it a Barefoot Treeless.  I do agree it looks awesome on me ;)
Mom wrote the Skito Pad peoples asking if they might be able to do some shims for the pad that came with the saddle.  It's a Grandeur Barefoot pad, very nice but, with my atrophy we need differant inserts.  With Mom not working due to her ribs AND the fact that the greenhouse season is nearly over anyway, money be tight.  So, her was hoping that maybe the Skito peoples could help and make an insert for the Grandeur that would help my atrophy.  The nice man Tom wrote right back asking Mom to send pix of my in profile and the inserts to see if he could help me.
Mom brought the camera right out and of course knowing what kind of pix we needed, I cooperated right away...
Camera? pictures?  Ok tell me what you need Mom.  Glad to help...
Mmmmm, where should I stand...

Here ya go Mom, me in full profile.  Sure hope my winter woolies don't interfere with what Tom wants!!!
So pictures are done, and sent. Mom was worried bout how her was gonna get pix of me standing nearly squared up, with head and ears erect.  No need to worry though, cause I knew what her wanted and that it was for me.  So I took over the shoot, chose the spot and "struck a pose".  Only took a few moments and I was able to get lunch right away.  See it does pay to be a good girl!!
Mom did a tracing of the inserts and waiting to hear if they gots a fax #. Her's by sending them a template they'll have no probs.
Keep all hooves crossed that Skito can make what I need to heal the atrophy.

Ta da, new saddle...

Camryn here:
My new saddle came on Friday, here it is...

Isn't it beautiful, it's gonna look great with my chestnut coat for sure.   The pad pictured isn't the pad it came with cause it was in the wash.  It's gonna look great on me too though.

Saturday Danette came over and put it on me (Mom can't lift even a light saddle on me yet).  I was eating so didn't bother paying much attention at the time.
Mom was worried it might be to long for my back but, it wasn't.  The pommel though was to small and would pinch me.  Not to worry cause it zips right out and Mom can get an extra wide to fit!!!  Other peoples said they simply put a hand towel in instead of the pommel.  The pad that comes with it (not the one I'm wearing) can do inserts so Mom emailed the skito peoples to see about getting some shims for the atrophy on my shoulder area.  That will hopefully allow the muscles to heal and get back to normal. Danette helped Mom up on me to sit in it.  Mom liked sitting in it, and on me a whole lot.  Danette hopped up to and couldn't get over how soft the saddle is.
Now that Mom has been on me & I has a saddle that won't hurt, her antsy to ride again.

More of the nursing staff...

Camryn here:
Our Ivy needs occasional breaks from her nursing duties.  Luckily the rest of our staff is up to the job...
Tye: Hey Mom, if you need anything just let Promise know.
Promise: Hey Ivy, Mom needs something!!!
Tye: Zzzzzzzzzz...
Promise: Not to worry Mom, Ivy's break is almost over, Zzzzzzzzzz.

Seriously though, Mom is being well taken care of despite sleepy staff members!
Oh, Promise eye is getting way better not that you can tell in the pix (the red eye isn't from the flash).  It was way worse than how it looks now and is no longer causing her pain.  So while the staff nurses Mom, Mom nurses the staff cause Promise still gets lots of meds in that eye several times daily.  Her doesn't rub it no more, so isn't wearing the cone of shame.
PS-UPS tracking shows my saddle is out of delivery!!!

Playing nurse...

With Mom being laid up it was decided that she needed a nurse.  Our Ivy raised her paw for the big job.  Her does an excellant job, keeps Momma's legs & feet warm and toasty for most of the day.
Ivy: "Hey Mom, do you need anything special?"

Pay now...

Camryn here:
Well, Mom's been busy researching saddles for me.  Ya'all know bout my saddle issues right?  My old saddle that Mom thought fit didn't, I'm such a good girl I never once complained.  Mom woulda not known cept my trimmer noticed I had atrophy issues going on with my whithers and topline.  So, Mom bought a differant saddle that didn't fit either, borrowed several, tried friends.  At one big ride lotsa people brought saddles for me to try.  None worked.  Her tried a treeless Sensation and liked it's fit on me, but it was english and her didn't feel to secure in it.  Tried another and liked it lots but, it wasn't for sale.  Her really likes the Synergist we've been borrowing but, it's not for sale either AND while it fits now, it won't onced my back is back as it should be.  Plus all my saddle issues with treed saddles has her feeling very wary bout going with trees for me again.
So, her joined a treeless group, began researching whilst being laid up and decided on two types.  One being Sensation, the other Barefoot brand.  Seems lots of Haflingers have treeless saddles!!!  Mmmmm, who'd of thought hee hee
On with her quest, Mom found a used Barefoot Arizona, it comes with pad and breast collar too on Craigslist.  It's in Monanta but, Mom just hit "Pay Now" on PayPal so tomorrow it'll be on it's way here to Ohio and me!!!  It should be here on Friday.  Course Mom can't test ride me with it just yet.  But, we can make sure it fits and suits me good.
I can't wait for my new outfit saddle to get here now.  Hooves all crossed that it's the saddle for me :)

B stands for...

Camryn here:
B stands for B-O-R-E-D.  I am so bored with Mom being on the injured list.  No riding, no groundwork either, her can't even lift my feet to clean my hooves!!  Mmmmm reading this I don't understand why I'm complaing, those are good things!!!
I'm still getting to eat lots and no slow feed net cause Mom can't fill it, Mom still manages to clean my bedroom and make sure I always have water.  Her's attempts to brush me left handed, doesn't do very well but, her tries.  Still, I miss Mom, and I know Mom misses me too.  Her tells me and hugs me when ever her comes down wif food.  I gracefully accept her hugs and try to mumble "love you toos", only my mouth is always full of hay so it comes out "nom, nom, nom.  I think her understands though.
It's been three weeks today since the mmmmm "incident".  Mom is doing so much better, still walks like a little old lady when the pain killers are wearing off though.  Her has to be careful of her movements, one off movement and her is all "OWWWW" and clutching her side.  Mom is actually more bored than me, the couch has become her Best Friend she just hopes it's not Forever!!!  Still sleeping on da couch cause her can't lay flat out, and trying to get out of bed takes to long, to long if it's for potty anyway hee hee!!!  She's been reading all her Mark Rashid horse books, like she hasn't already read them all three times each. A horsey catalog came today showing a photo of a bucking horse on the cover, Mom showed it to Dad and said "picture this with me flying off".  Her still has her odd humor too!!!
Every week though is much, much, better than "that day"!!!

Walk 2 the Neeeeighbors...

Camryn here:
Mom and Onyx went walking thru the woods yesterday after the wedding.  On account of Moms ribs I stayed home eating.  Not a bad deal I think!
Mmmmm, who and what has been here?
Smells da air too.  I should mention that there is/was a house along the trail.  Is/was till yesterday night.  It burned down!!!  Not all the way because it's brick so the shell is still there.  No one was hurt (well, a cat is missing) their still investigating it's cause.  The people who lived there are hoarders so could've been caused by anything...
This is Handy, he's a Quarter Horse who lives at the neighbors boarding barn.  I've never ridden with him as he's a show horse and trails n stuff just aren't his thing.  He can deal with banners and such just fine, woods not so much.  He's a cutie...
This is Cameron, he's a TWH and Handy's buddy.  Sooooo, handsome just makes me drool looking at him.  I've ridden with him a few times, he's a nice guy.  I guess that wasn't always the case, he had a "mean dude" rep till his owner started working with him.  Huge turn around, he doesn't make shark jaws at everybody/everything no more. I could just look at him allllll day long.
Da house that burned down was just past the yellow trees.  Handy & Cameron were out in their paddock when the fire started.  Danette had to run over to put them in cause they was way scared of it all.  Lots of fire trucks coming and going for water...

Onyx heads back home after the visit to give me messages from the guys and tell me how the burned house smells...

Onyx & new Bride...

Onyx got married again.  He's a pretty popular groom.  Mom took video of him and his bride preparing for the ceremony.  Aren't they a cute couple?   They've got one more honeymoon planned to make sure buns are in the oven.  Sooooo, 63 days and counting for some show ring hopefuls.

The ceremony took place at the Vet Clinic, Mom & two Vet techs preformed the nuptials.
The bride is a bit younger but, very enthusiastic as you can see.  Quite the little tease.

Super Hero applications...

Camryn here:
Sounds like we should take applications for da super hero club maybe?  Mmmmm, you know what I think all of us are super heros in one way or another anyway.  So by proxy, cape or no cape, anyone who wants to join the Super Hero Club, your in :).  As boss Super Hero I pound my mallet on the gate to make it official!!!
Speaking os Super Hero: Our Jillian had a Super Hero incident this morning.  I think I've mentioned she's a nurse at OSU (that be Ohio State University).  So anyhow, this morning she answers the phone, a girl is complaining of waking with the worsest headache of her live, nausea and dizziness.  As Jillian is questioning her, the girl discovers one of her roomates being sick too.  Jillian gets alarmed, they go check da other roomate, who has the bathroom waste basket by her bed being sick too.  Of course Jillian has already asked if hangover may be involved, answer being no.  Jillian quickly catches da Dr. who says "Carbon Monoxide".  Jillian tells girls to leave building like right now, hang up and call 911 and tell them it's Carbon Monoxide Poisening so da entire building can be evacuated, then to call her back.  Da girls hang up then call back, Jillian can hear da sirens in the distance on the phone.
Later in the day Jillian gets another call, it be the girl.  Her Thanks Jillian big time for saving their lives.  The Carbon levels in their unit was at 300!!!  If they hadn't left, they'd have been dead very shortly. The building was evactuated though only the girls unit was affected.  Da Dr. also told Jillian she'd saved their lives.
Mom's got goosebumps and Jillian is Hero of the Day!!!  Course we should mention her not the only family Hero (besides me).  Being that Chris served two tours in Iraq as an Army Medic, him saved more lives than any can imagine (he's also a fireman hero guy now).  Our Adam also alerted Columbus police several years ago to a child computer porn guy and helped to get him convicted.
Mom just swells with pride sometimes over our kidders.

back to work for a few...

Camryn here:
Mom tried to go back to work yesterday.  Dumb idea big time.  Her lasted two hours and paid for it the entire day.  Her left and told the boss she'd try again next week.  Hard to convince a woman trying to save for a saddle that her needs to take it easy!!
Most of her day now revolves around looking for & dreaming about getting me a good fitting new saddle.
Her thinks her knows which to get now.  Both manufacturer and style.  This may change during her down time however as her researches more.
Nice sunny day today "at last".  I'm just enjoying some sun bathing..

Birthday kinda day...

Camryn here:
Today be a very, very special day.  Our Jillian turns 29 (for the first time).  Wow, Mom can't hardly believe it.  Just yesterday Jillian was just a cute little baby, suddenly a beautiful, accomplished young woman.  Mom remembers bringing Jillian home from the hospital, it was Indian Summer and way hot.  Chris who was two couldn't wait to show his brand new sister the ducks at the lake.  Soooo, that was Jillians firstest outing ever.

Jillian is a nurse at OSU, her also is a Army Reservist (Specialist Surgical Tech).  Her gots a honey (Jesse) who lives in VA.  We've not met him, he's a Marina Capt. guy stationed at Quanico (yeah so I can't spell it).  Her is very busy and right now on the injured list like Mom.  Her's got three stress fractures in her foot.  Mom says Jillian should come stay with us, that way Dad couldn't get bored with two gimps to take care of!  Mom was doing a special present for Jillian but, due to her wreck it's been postponed.  Her kinda needs full use of her right arm for it.
Another kind of Birthday cause Mom started this blog one year ago today. Now everyone has to admit it's a lot better now that I've took it over :)
Gotta go now, later...

Not much goin on...

Camyrn here:
With Mom on the injured list we just don't have much goin on at all.  It's cold and rainy, this limits Moms barn time as it hurts to shiver!!!  I'm missing her riding, playing and just hanging out.  I've been trying my best to keep my room tidy so it doesn't take as much effort to keep it clean.  Most of my day is spent hanging out at the gate just hoping for a glimpse of Mom.  Apparently her sleeps lots from her pain killers and all.
My neighbor horses have all gone away for the weekend.  We're hoping they all have a fun and safe time, and that it's not all cold and rainy where they're riding too.
Dad be sick with horrible cold, so Mom is avoiding him with just blowing kisses across the room.
Mom has joined a treeless saddle group, cause while she'd down and out she has plenty of time to research.  Her thoughts are if her gets a treed saddle made for me, what happens when the atrophy is gone?  We're optomistic it will be gone.  With a treeless and a good pad, I can recover AND not need another new saddle?  Her be leaning most towards one of the Sensations (hybrid, western, or westlish).  Or a mabye a Torsion, definlity not a knock off cheapo that'll hurt my back even more and fall apart to boot.  We'll just have to wait and see I guess, I'm just happy I know Mom will always try to do right by me.  Wish I had arms to hug her, course hugging hurts her right now too.
